That Belt.

Carrie Bradshaw’s belt that is ... in the first Sex And The City movie ... the one that popped up almost as much as Carrie herself. If you know the belt I’m talking about you will agree with me, it is to die for.
I love this ensemble in the opening to the film. The colours and floral patterns work amazingly together.
In. Love. This outfit has to be my absolute favourite outfit in the movie. Everytime I watch the film I fall in love with it a bit more. It's just so nice!
I honestly think every girl should own a statement belt! Or for that fact a statement everything!

Patricia Field (The head stylist for Sex And The City) made an amazing job of this one. With the studded belt she found in a vintage shop she showed us that with one item you can mix it up and make numerous amazing outfits (Carrie pulled off, I think it was six outfits with this vintage find) This belt appeared so much in the film that Sarah Jessica Parker felt the need to name it.

It got me thinking, is it worth spending money and a ridiculous amount of time to find a few perfect, statement accessories to chuck over basics or shall we go all out and get a wardrobe of a few basics and endless statement dresses, tees etc?

I mean, when we crave that monthly shopping trip we don’t leave the house thinking, oh my gosh I need to find the most perfect belt! It’s more like ooh I can’t wait to try on half of Topshop and find something I will absolutely fall in love with. But maybe looking for the perfect accessories would be worthwhile, they’ll more than likely always fit you, even when it comes to January and you’ve gained a little tum from all that chocolate over Christmas, they are so versatile (as Patricia Field proved) plus, on the high street, accessories are nowhere near as pricey as even a comfy slouch jumper, which in my opinion are stupidly overpriced for a basic that you wander round the house in.

Sun And Strawberries

Tee - Primark. Shorts - New Look
Shoes - Topshop. Necklace - Topshop.

So, today I went strawberry and raspberry picking. My mouth is watering just thinking about them. It is a crazily cheap thing to do with friends, plus it means I can nibble on a few on the way round to keep me going in this weather. Well, maybe it was more than a few.

Anyway I saw it as an opportunity to post an outfit of the day. Although when you are planning on going strawberry picking you have to be careful what you wear. White clothes, big no no. I’m simply too messy for that. I am one of these people that really hate dressing for practicality, I love getting ready too much to fuss about that and it makes deciding what to wear so damn hard. It takes me long enough as it is. So, I kept it simple, I stuck to the classic denim (USA flag print) cut offs and a tee, but by the time I got dressed I just felt bare so I had to add a necklace...at least. Honestly, I wish I could’ve worn ankle boots with this outfit. But tan lines around my ankles, no thank you.

A rare thing for me, I had a fair bit of spare time this morning so I thought I’d go all out and rock a halo braid! They look awesome! Plus, people are always so complimentary when you rock a hairstyle that looks impossible to do. Buuut, maybe I had a little too much spare time. So much that I ended up deciding against it and having a wavy hair day instead. Yes, I know, it’s disappointing ):

For an hour or so picking strawberries I decided to stick to easy, no hassle makeup. You can't beat a nude lip. Its unbelievably easy to maintain!
So that was my outfit of the day! I hope you like it.

Ooh, I’ve slipped in a photo of one of the tasty treats my best friend and I made with our plenty strawberries and raspberries.

Finally, Summer.

My first blog post aaah. I have been toying on the idea of starting a blog for ages now but I was scared off, maybe a little too easily, I mean your first blog post has to be one of the best ones, right? So for me (an unbelievably indecisive person) it was an insane challenge to actually make a decision what to write about. So. I’m going to keep it simple, and very general.

The sun finally deciding to make its presence is worth talking about.
Summer.  A time of year us Brits get thoroughly excited for, despite knowing that we will be disappointed for majority of the season. We dream that we’ll be spending the summer on the beach eating ice cream, everyone loves a good Mr. Whippy ice cream with a flake! But realistically this rarely happens.
Well, finally, we‘ve got lucky. Two whole weeks of amazing weather, reassuring you that actually that beach holiday to Benidorm where you will literally sit down doing nothing for a whole week really isn’t all that necessary. Yay! Time to start saving for an autumn weekend away to Paris instead! It actually worries me how excited I am to hopefully go to Paris in October for my birthday despite the fact I haven’t even got close to booking it yet.

I hope you enjoyed reading this and I promise more exciting blog posts in the near future.
